Recycling Roomba Batteries – I need to recycle an old roomba battery, where can I drop it off/mail it to?

I’m willing to spend up to $ 20 or so, but I use rechargeable batteries for everything else so I can’t justify getting a big green box (and live in NYC so retailers take them anyway). Can I take it to a store that sells roombas and have them send it back? Can anyone recommend a vendor or collection place in NYC (preferably Brooklyn or Manhattan, but if it’s on a train line I can manage it) that would take this type of battery. I’m pretty sure its a NiMH.

Some clarification about the roomba vacuum?

Assuming money is no object, would you say that the roomba is worth it? My Mom has been wanting it for some time and I wanna get it for her since she’s always vacuuming and I gotta help her lol.

There’s a lot of furniture in my house so I’m not sure if it’ll really be efficient. The couches aren’t high enough so that it can just slide down there and clean so I’d have to move it back. Also the dining table has chairs are pushed in so I’d have to move the chairs back. Just stating some of this stuff just to determine if it’s worth it.

Which model is a good one? I’ve heard the 500s have a problem with the side brush.
Also, do the vacuums die easily? I’ve read that they can just die after a year or so. When they die can they be fixed with just a new battery?

Thanks.

10 PTS!?! Roomba Robot Vacuum Question PLEASE HELP!?

I bought a roomba 530 and pluged the dock in and let it charge. It charged overnight but the battery only lasts no more than 43 min and it does not return to the base. It should last 1.5 to 2 hours. It seems like the run time is improving SLOWLY every time it charges. It went from 20 min to 43 min after 5 or so recharge cycles, but still doesnt return to the base (or seem to want to). Any ideas?

Thanks!! Any comments are greatly appreciated!
Oh, and it only wants to charge for about 1 hour max, when it should take 3. Then the ‘green’ light comes on indicating it is fully charged.

Roomba 530 keeps on backing up slightly to the right?

My Roomba is 100 days old or so (just missed the 90 day warranty because it is remanufactured..sigh) and recently it’s stopped going straight. Even when there’s no obstacles, it will start backing up and turn to the right sightly every time.
I’ve tried soft reset (dock + spot), tried hard reset (taken out the battery and back in) with the same problem. I’m not sure if it’s the left wheel since there’s no reason for it to go BACKWARDS..so I suspect the left sensor may be constantly sensing something…but I can’t open it up enough to tell..any ideas??

How durable is the roomba 560?

although this question is a few days too late… we just ordered a roomba 560 from HSN.com, and am curioius about how reliable they are when put into a daily use work cycle on hardwood floors.

Our dog is a 130 pound great pyrenees and sheds a lot, and it gets exhausting trying to keep up with the “cody puffs” that float around on the floor. Upright vacs tend to blow them around, our dustbuster battery is dying after several months of daily use, so the roomba has been a last resort to keep the fur under control.

Is a daily work cycle too much for the roomba to handle? We got an extended warranty on it, but I expect we’ll be replacing the battery and corner brushes fairly frequently.

Which Roomba should I buy?

I’ve read so many forum, shops, and reviews that I don’t even know what to do anymore. I’m looking for some suggestion on which roomba to buy as I do have an open floor plan. See my crude drawing below:
…………__________________
……….. |……………………..|…|
…………|…….Room 1……..|…|
…………|…….11×11……… .|…|
…………|……………………. D…|
_______|_______________|…|

|………….17×13………….|……. …..10×15… …….. |…….11×11… ..|
|…………………………….D …………… ……. ……… |……………. …../
|____________________|____________________|_____________|

The letter “D” means that I have a door there and the “E#” represents the opening entrance with no door. There is supposed to be a line and a wall to close off the office and the masterbed, but I couldn’t get it to show for some reason. I would like to find a roomba that would fit this plan. I would love to get the whole house clean, but the place I’m most concern about is the Kitchen and Family+Living rooms. It would be great to find a roomba that has enough intelligent (e.g. Lighthouse and Virtual Wall) and battery juice to do the job without me carrying it around.

–Where best to put the roomba?
–Is roomba smart enough to know about the open-floor plan between the Kitchen, Family+Living, and Office to do a thorough cleaning job?–Or is it just going to run for 35 minutes or so and then return to base.
–If roomba is not smart enough to do the cleaning job of the three offset rooms, then my plan would be to buy a roomba with lighthouse and virtual walls. My plan would be to leave/start the roomba in the Family+Living room, put a lighthouse at E2 and E3, and Virtual-Wall at E1. I could potentially buy more lighthouses to put in front of Masterbed and Room1 so that the roomba can go in there as well.
–I was looking at the 610, but it’s crazily expensive, plus it doesn’t have the aerovac-bin. It has the max mode (2 years warranty and room-to-room navigation), but I believe that you can only use max-mode manually and can’t put it in the schedule. Nevertheless, max mode is convenient when I just want it to run around to do cleaning until the battery die.
–I’m considering the 370 as well, since it has lighthouse. I would have to give up the max-mode and buy the aerovac-bin. If roomba actually covers the open floor well, then I could just use the lighthouse for Room1 and Masterbed room.–This would be the best option considering the scheduling convenience and price.
–The 550 from costco sales for $ 250, meaning that I could buy two of these with the same price as the 610. The problem with this one is that room-to-room navigation is not supported with this model, as it has Auto Virtual Wall and this model is 551001.

Which Roomba is best?

I just got my “old” 400 series Roomba out of the closet and replaced brushes, and cleaned it up a bit. I charged it and the battery did not hold the charge so I’ve sent my hubby to Target to get a replacement battery and an additional Roomba since we live in a bigger house now.

Browsing online, I see there is now a a 500 series Roomba. It’s much more expensive than the original 400. Is it really worth the extra money? Is it that much better than the 400 series?

Which Roomba is best and why? Please be specific. I appreciate info from experienced users.

Can I use a 12 volt DC adaptor with my Roomba robot charger’s 22.5 volt DC socket?

Can I use a 12 volt DC adaptor with my Roomba robot charger’s 22.5 volt DC socket? I’m in Beijing, China right now, and I went to a electrician to help me, and it worked fine. Lights came on and everything.

But he was afraid that in the long run it would hurt my Roomba or it’s internal battery.

More information: Roomba uses 33 watts. Roomba is made for American electrical outlets. I’m in Beijing, China: 220 volt outlets. (Also, adaptor is 3000 amps, roomba is 1500 amps… This I’m not sure about, though)

Thank you!!
My Roomba Robot is Model 530

=)
Thank you!
