Q&A: Why does Roomba dock kill the battery?

Roomba 4110 Discovery works and charges when plugged in. I recently picked up a dock for it to charge on. The Roomba finds the dock, parks on it, plays a tune, and the light pulses. A couple hours later the light on the Roomba is off and the battery is completely dead. Both green lights on the dock remain lit. It appears that the dock is actually draining the battery. Tried it with a couple different batteries and got the same result.
What to do?
